Outstanding Achieve in String Research Award
ASTA now sponsors an award to recognize long-term excellence in string research. The Outstanding Achievement in String Research Award will be awarded to a researcher whose work has contributedsignificantly to scholarship in string education and/or performance. Nominees should have a record of sustained engagement (at least 10 years) in the following research activities: publication in juried research journals, professional service in string research, and support (mentoring,collaboration, supervision) of other string researchers.

The award will be presented at the 2011 ASTA National Conference. Nominations for the awards may come from any ASTA member; self nomination is permitted. To nominate a qualified researcher, please provide the name and email address of the nominee and a letter of nomination that addresses the nominee’s qualifications. The Research Awards Committee will then contact the nominee to request essential information (curriculum vitae & other relevant documentation).

Nominations for this award must be submitted electronically no later than September 15, 2010 to:

Advocacy Award is given to leaders who have made outstanding contributions to arts education.

Artist Teacher Award is given to an artist/pedagogue of renowned stature from within North America.

Arts Philanthropist of the Year honors individuals that actively further ASTA’s mission to promote quality string teaching and playing. Recipient must demonstrate a commitment to strings by giving philanthropic gift to the string community, making a significant impact on the advancement of strings, encouraging or inspiring others to support the string community and engaging in local activities that promote the general welfare of string teaching and playing.

Citations for Leadership and Merit are given to ASTA members who have made significant contributions to the association.

Distinguished Service Award

Elizabeth A.H. Green School Educator Award is given annually to a school string teacher with a current and distinguished career in a school orchestral setting.

Isaac Stern International Award is given to an artist teacher whose identity need not be primarily within the American scene.  

Marvin J. Rabin Community Service Award is given to an individual or organization who makes significant contributions to their community by their teaching and leadership.

Outstanding Achievement in String Research Award recognizes long-term excellence in string research. It is given to a researcher whose work has contributed significantly to scholarship in string education and/or performance.

Paul Rolland Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual of renowned stature whose identity need not be primarily with the American scene.

Student Chapter Award is given to an ASTA student chapter for exemplary promotion of strings in and around the university community.

Traugott Rohner Leadership in the Music Industry Award is given to a string industry leader whose identity is primarily from within North America.
