After I submit my name, what happens next?
ASTA will contact you by early October with more details. Please note committees have limited space; selection for committees is done by committee chairs and the ASTA board president.

String Research Editorial Board (currently not open for volunteer positions)

Deadline: September 10, 2016
Review material for the String Research Journal; review and select juried poster session submissions. For more information and where to submit your interest, click here.

Collegiate Committee (currently not open for volunteer positions)

Deadline: September 16, 2016
Fosters community and ASTA identity with the higher education string education community; organizes and holds annual collegiate roundtable meeting; submits content ideas for consideration; identifies the needs of the collegiate community.

Time commitment: Monthly 1-2 hours

Eclectic Strings Committee (currently not open for volunteer positions)

Deadline: September 16, 2016
Ensures that eclectic styles are an integral part of the ASTA community; organizes and holds annual eclectic strings roundtable; submits content ideas for consideration; identifies the needs and trends for eclectic strings.

Time commitment:  Monthly 1-2 hours

K-12 Committee (currently not open for volunteer positions)

Deadline: September 16, 2016
Fosters community and ASTA identity with the K-12 string education community; organizes and holds annual K-12 roundtable meeting; submits content ideas for consideration; identifies the needs and trends of the K-12 community.

Time commitment: Monthly 1-2 hours

Studio Teacher Committee (currently not open for volunteer positions)

Deadline: September 16, 2016
Fosters community and ASTA identity with the private studio community; organizes and holds annual private studio roundtable meeting; submits content ideas for consideration; identifies the needs and trends of the private studio community.

Time commitment: Monthly 1-2 hours

American String Teacher Editorial board (currently not open for volunteer positions)

Ensure that the AST Journal meets the highest standards and addresses member needs; solicit and write articles; make content recommendations; review articles.

Membership Ambassadors (currently not open for volunteer positions)

Help new ASTA members assimilate into the organization and ensure that each new member receives the most value possible from their ASTA membership. The ultimate goal of the Ambassador program is to ensure that members continue their membership in ASTA and help build the organization by bringing in new members.

Research Committee (currently not open for volunteer positions)

Gather and analyze data in relationship to string education; select award winners.

Student Advisory Committee (currently not open for volunteer positions)

Represent the needs of string education students; select award winners; identify content and professional development areas focused on student needs.
